In 1992, I qualified as a midwife, and since then, I have worked in a variety of maternity care settings in The Netherlands, London (UK) and NSW (Australia).

My Dutch background has equipped me with a healthy perspective on pregnancy and birth. I believe that pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period, although a significant rite of passage is a normal life event.

When in a safe and respectful environment, the body holds within it the power to successfully grow, birth and nurture a baby, usually without the need for medical intervention.

By providing continuity of midwifery care – which is internationally recognised as the gold standard of maternity care – I help my clients connect with and trust their innate birthing ability.

Every birth I have attended has taught me something, thereby increasing my midwifery wisdom, more than the textbooks ever could.
